Boyero in Ciudad Colon
Ciudad Colon hosted a cultural fair this weekend. The days were full of different types of live music and dance in the city center. Art was displayed and vendors had booths selling crafts, food and plants. Today we watched women in white ruffled blouses and long blue circle skirts doing traditional dance.
The main event of the day was the procession of the Boyero. A Boyero is the person who guides a team of oxen pulling an oxcart. In days gone past this used to be the way crops were transported throughout Costa Rica. The Priest blessed the animals and people as they passed in front of the church.
